  • Destroy the Red Dot!

While we spend most our time being adorable and cuddly, make no mistake that a vote for a Democat is a vote for an all-out war on the laser-pointer red dot!

The red dot promotes play in cats, the benefits of which are enormous for felines in the home.

And once we have eliminated the threat of the red dot, we can turn our attention to these great home made toys!

  • Vet Care for All!

Democats believe veterinary is an important part of maintaining pet health.

At the Spokane Humane Society, we provide low-cost options to spay and neuter, vaccinate and microchip pets. We also partner with and support local veterinarians, many of whom provide free health-checks for newly adopted shelter animals.

For more information on our low-income clinic and for a list of local area veterinarians, please visit spokanehumanesociety.org

  • Litter in Every Box!

Democats wholeheartedly endorse efforts to bring multiple litter boxes to the home. Especially in multi-kitty households, such programs are essential to health and happiness!

Some cats are not keen to share their boxes with others, and why should they? We are also in favor of nationwide litter box placement education: no one wants to potty next to a loud washing machine!

  • Legalize Catnip!

As Democats we support comprehensive catnip legalization. The benefits of catnip to our feline friends is enormous! Besides making cats relaxed and happy, catnip can lead to additional health benefits, such as stimulating cats to exercise and play. In addition, a little catnip in a carrier can help ease the stress of traveling or help settle nerves for a visit to the veterinarian. For more information on the benefits of catnip click here.

  • A Bone in Every Bowl!

Pet treats along with verbal praise and attention can be a great motivational part of positive reinforcement training. Rewards for good behaviour make the training process better when done properly.

  • Love for all!

Shelters often find themselves with dogs of all ages and medical dispositions that are considered by some to be "less adoptable." As Repuplicans, we want to educate the world on how amazing these pets are.

So called "Less Adoptable" pets are often passed over for fear they have too many medical needs or are too old, but in reality, they may have many years of love to give to a new family.

And plus: they don’t chew your shoes, and are typically more low key than younger pups. Check out these 10 good reasons to adopt a senior dog.

  • Belly Rubs for All!

Let it never be said that the Repuplican Party is afraid of free love! We believe that physical contact for dogs is important in their social development, and also helps to create unbreakable bonds between people and pups.

For all these reasons, we Repuplicans demand belly rubs for all pups who want them!

  • Sit Happens!

The Repuplican party strongly supports positive reinforcement dog training.

Dog training and socializing also ensure that your dog has the manners to woo any two or four legged friend they meet. Additionally, dogs who receive training are less likely to end up in a shelter due to unwanted behaviors.

The Repuplican party recommends the services of Pawsitive Connection, they help with the Spokane Humane Society’s pups!
